Week 13 - 14 (March 30 - April 12)

Hey guys we are already in april and fastly approaching the summer. We have been having very little posting on the blog so I want to encourage you to post whatever is on your heart / mind. It doesn't have to be from the OYB schedule. Just share with us what is going on in your life. We'd love to hear and be encouraged. Have a great day!

  1. Embarrassing story of the week...

I was in the library last week and really stressed out about a few tests that I had. I plugged in my headphones to my laptop and blasted "Give us clean hands" by Chris Tomlin to destress and have a minute of worship. After the song was over I took off my headphones to keep studying, only to find out that I had plugged in my headphones to the WRONG OUTLET in my laptop, and I had BLASTED the whole song throughout the entire silent library!! Not one person in the packed room was brave enough to tell me to turn my music off...

However.. later that day I was in class and someone came up to me to let me know that they had, in fact, "heard my music playing in the library" and that it really lifted their day!

it was terrible... but I am way excited to get to camp and blast chris tomlin whenever I want!! Haha

  2. Hey guys.

I'll be new to Ozark this Summer but am definitely excited to get there and love kids and love them well. As we're going through Passion week, I've been reflecting on the meaning of Easter and everything that it entails. Recently, a friend of mine was talking to me about the story of Jesus at the Mount of Transfiguration. So He(Christ) goes up to the Mountain and is with Elijah and Moses! Peter comes and starts babbling about setting up tents. Picture this: You're in the presence of the visible expression of an invisible God. He's with two of the biggest names in scripture. Do you really think tent building 101 should be top priority when Peter was in the presence of those three? Anyway, while he is rambling on, the voice of God interrupts and says "This is my BELOVED Son, of who I am well pleased"... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that shut Peter up. You see, Peter had an agenda. He had a plan --He said "Hey, Jesus, here is what I want to do. I want to build tents for you and Elijah and Moses. I want to do this, etc."...

I wonder how often we are in the presence of God and we try to push our agenda. I want to encourage you guys, not just looking towards camp, but also looking towards the Cross and Easter, to really push your own agenda out of the way and listen to Christ. I know that I need to do that. So many times, I think to myself "I just want to get kids to YoungLife club" or "If I can get my friend Sean to camp, then he'll have an encounter with God"...When that shouldn't be the important thing. The important thing should be that I am looking for God's agenda in EVERYTHING.

    Just my thoughts.
I already love all of you guys.
